Introducing Brent Doscher, a Boston-area photographer, who shot New York singer Lissy Trullie in Cambridge for us. Writes Brent, 'I was pretty frazzled actually - being a NH kid getting lost in Boston put me in a strange mood... However... The concert, like many others at TT the Bear's Place, had a great intimate feel. The small venue promotes a very personal show which allows the performers to just relax and enjoy playing, while the concert-goers enjoy being so close to the musicians and feeling like they're part of the music instead of just watching from a distance.'

We photographed Die Mannequin when the Toronto punk group kicked off its Canadian tour at the Venue in Vancouver, and again with a review and some audience shots from the Winnipeg show. Thanks to Kenzy Elbanna, we've also got some shots from the last show of the tour. Says Kenzy: 'They were playing a fairly large venue [the Sound Academy] but had it set up to be more like an intimate club with a smaller stage. It made for an awkward photo pit but a really great intimate atmosphere, and Care [Failure, lead singer] is an incredible performer. It was pretty difficult to even narrow my best photos because she makes every shot so great.'

The Red Room may not be much of a venue, but when it turns on the laser lights, watch out. Especially when it's a heavenly bill for indie-rock stargazers who appreciate smashing frontwomen. 'What a show for "no fun city",' writes photog Dean McLean on Emilie Autumn's Vancouver appearance with her Bloody Crumpets to what he estimates at about 300 people. The seamstress' daughter from Chicago, who makes her own clothes and has played violin with the likes of Billy Corgan and Otep, 'deserved a lot more. She and her entourage gave 110 percent for the two-hour plus show and other than maybe a bit to much dialog, kept the crowd rocking. The stage and costumes were impressive as were the multi- talented girls.' Autumn is touring in support of a forthcoming album, The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls.

The new band from actor Ryan Gosling and friend Zach Shields comes complete with a ghost choir and Halloween-ish backdrop. And of course, actor Ryan ('The Notebook', 'Half Nelson') Gosling. 'So ya, mostly girls, but lotsa couples and a few dudes shouting out their love confessions.' She adds, 'The stage had a Halloween backdrop and they had a local young teenaged choir up there with them dressed up like ghosts. They also held up a sheet for a while with a projected shot black and white film strip of random stuff.'
